Baltimore accident once again strains supply chains

It emerged on Wednesday that the container freighter “Dali”, which wrecked in the port of Baltimore, could now itself become a burden for international supply chains. Just a few days earlier, it was itself a victim of the already tense situation on the world’s oceans. Instead of using the Suez Canal on its way from Colombo in India to Baltimore, it transported its steel boxes around the Cape of Good Hope. The reason: the rocket attacks by the Huthi militias in the Red Sea. The supply of goods by sea freight is already correspondingly strained. Since the disaster, fears of an additional disruption to global goods logistics have grown once again. After discussions with our HTFN partners, we will immediately switch to New Jersey and Boston to guarantee that the shelves can be filled at the desired time.
