Two hours and forty minutes of the three-hour film are dedicated to the dramatic events aboard the Titanic – exactly as long as the actual sinking of the ship lasted on the night of April 14 to 15, 1912.
The tragedy began when the Titanic collided with an iceberg at 11:40 PM. What initially seemed like a minor incident quickly escalated into an unstoppable disaster: the ship, believed to be unsinkable, started taking on water and sank after exactly two hours and forty minutes, at 2:20 AM, into the icy depths of the North Atlantic.
