According to a report from yesterday, the Trump administration is asking its trading partners to submit their best offers for negotiations by Wednesday. This emerges from a draft letter available to Reuters.
The USA therefore wants to speed up the talks before the self-imposed deadline expires in five weeks. As Reuters reports, the USA urgently needs to conclude agreements in order to meet its tight deadline.
So far, a limited agreement has only been reached with the UK. The countries are to make proposals on tariffs. The USA wants to evaluate the responses quickly and propose possible solutions with tariffs, according to reports. If no agreement is reached, new US tariffs are threatened from July 8. The 90-day suspension of the tariffs presented on “Liberation Day” will then end.
