
Runway renovation at EuroAirport
Runway at EuroAirport EAP – the runway renovation is being prepared. It will take place during the day from Monday to Friday and will have no impact on flight operations. The preparatory work mainly comprises leveling work. The preparatory phase applies to the new runway, which is scheduled for the second quarter of 2025 and will be completed in mid-2026. After decades of flight operations, EuroAirport’s main runway needs to be renovated. For safety reasons, it will be necessary to close the runway completely for a period of around one month.
Development prospects – with 9.2 million passengers in 2025, the pre-crisis figures will be slightly exceeded. The airport assumes that the strategic business division Cargo will return to pre-pandemic levels. The year 2025 will be a special year for the cargo sector at EuroAirport, as the state-of-the-art Cargo Terminal celebrates its 10th anniversary. This modern facility guarantees efficient delivery and cargo handling processes and – especially for the pharmaceutical industry – constant temperature control in a range of 15 to 25 degrees Celsius throughout the entire hall. Two major projects of central importance to the airport are already being prepared this year. The construction work for the extension of the existing terminal, which is scheduled to begin in 2027. Furthermore, the rail connection, which will be included in further planning work.
